Privacy and terms,in plain words
Plain-words summary of how StayOs works today. A lawyer will review the final policy and terms before launch, including what India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act requires.
Privacy, in plain words
- Signing in. You sign in with Google. We receive your name, email address and profile photo, nothing else from your Google account. We never see or store a password.
- Where your data lives. Accounts, listings, visits, messages, reviews, flags and alerts are stored with Supabase, in its Singapore region. Listing photos are stored there too.
- Who sees what. Listings, reviews and flags are public, with your first name only. Your email is never shown to other people. An owner’s phone number is shown only to visitors whose visit the owner confirmed. Messages are seen only by the two people in the conversation.
- Phone numbers. If you verify your number, we send a one-time code by SMS through our SMS provider.
- Emails from us. We email you about visit requests, messages, homes matching your alerts and your landlord’s answer, through our email provider. You can turn these off in Your account.
- Maps. Map images and place lookups come from OpenStreetMap services, which see the map area you’re viewing. “Use my location” asks your browser first and is only used to centre the map.
- Usage counts. We count page views and a few actions (searches, saves, messages) without cookies and without anything that identifies you.
- Your rights. In Your account you can edit your profile, download everything we hold about you, and delete your account, which removes your listings, photos, visits, messages, reviews and alerts.
- Questions or complaints. Write to the StayOs team at the contact address on this page once it’s published; we’ll name a grievance officer before launch.
Terms, in plain words
- Homes marked “Sample” are examples that show how StayOs works. They aren’t for rent, and messages to them won’t be answered.
- Only list a place you own, or one you’re renting and moving out of. Move-outs need your landlord’s okay, which StayOs asks for through a private link.
- Listings must be real and accurate: the photos, rent, charges and rules you show are the ones a renter gets. Moderators remove fake or misleading listings.
- Visitors can review and flag a home only after a visit. Keep reviews honest and about the home and the visit.
- StayOs charges no brokerage to anyone, and isn’t a party to any agreement between renters, owners or outgoing tenants.
- We may suspend accounts that post fake listings, harass people or misuse contact details.
